The Atomic Punks @ The Whisky a Go Go – 12/03/2016The tribute band scene has grown fast and furious over the past few years with tribute bands emerging from all walks of music. Whether some of your favorite bands are just out of the spotlight for years or just taking a break to record new material, the fans get restless. Van Halen fans are a different story . . . The Atomic Punks are the number one undisputed Van Halen Tribute band in the world and have been bringing Van Halen fans the music of the David Lee Roth era of Van Halen for over twenty two years. With an extremely busy touring schedule, The Atomic Punks are playing almost every weekend at venues across the country. Most recently the band played several Southern California dates, including the world famous Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, a show in Fresno California and a two night gig at the opening of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley’s Rock & Brews at San Manuel Casino.

In true Punks fashion, each of these Southern California shows treated fans to some DLR Van Halen Classics. With frontman Brian Gellar at the helm on vocals, Lance Turner from Dallas Texas on guitar, Joe Lester on the thundering bass and backing vocals and Scott Patterson kicking ass on the drums, The Punks simply bring it and do not disappoint. The most recent shows in Southern California brought the fans a pretty cool surprise and treat.  In the Atomic Punks history, it is extremely rare the original members can’t make a show. However on these very rare occasions The Punks have had some great surprises and for the fans with The Whisky a Go Go and Fresno shows being no exception. Filling in on bass was James Lomenzo (White Lion, David Lee Roth, Megadeth, Black Label Society ) for two nights. Lomenzo is just one of many awesome musicians who have been on stage with The Atomic Punks over the years. Michael Anthony, Stephen Chesney, Nuno Betencourt, Mike Tramp, Jorge Palcios to name a few. Not only have they had some great musicians on stage with them, there have been some pretty notable names in the crowds taking in the Atomic Punks shows and enjoying themselves. World Famous Van Halen photographer Neil Zlowzower (aka Zloz) has been spotted front row at shows and is a big supporter of the Atomic Punks. Long time Bass tech for Michael Anthony Kevin Duggan (aka Duggie) has been stage right at several Punks shows as well as Eddie Trunk of That Metal Show.  Recently Eddie Trunk has been sporting an Atomic Punks T-Shirt on his show and in a recent picture with Sebastian Bach.
