Dorothy @ The Glass House – 07/13/2018The hot Southern California summer got a bit hotter on Friday night July 13 at The Glasshouse in Pomona as Dorothy brought the second leg of the Freedom Tour 2018 to town along with Charming Liars in the opening slot. Out supporting their March 2018 release 28 Days in the Valley, Pomona was the second night of this six-week tour. After a several week tour earlier this year, Dorothy is now back at it hitting the smaller markets that were missed the first time around.

The London natives (now Los Angeles residents) Charming Liars kicked off the show and provided 40 minutes of solid catchy rock tunes performed with

electricity and enthusiasm. The band ended their set with a few new songs off their upcoming 2018 release.

The lights went dark and the band took the stage followed by Dorothy who took center stage and lit up a large spliff in the darkness while flashing a large smile as the band launched into “White Butterfly” to kick off the night. There are two things that hit you immediately once the music begins (not necessarily in this order) . . . one is Dorothy’s sultry natural beauty and the second is Dorothy’s soulful voice dripping with attitude and passion . . . oh yeah and the band is pretty kickass as well (OK that is three things).

With a classic seventies vibe to the music, I will state the obvious that has been stated many times before, Dorothy in many ways reminds you of Janis Joplin with the soulful voice, the flowing garments and stage movements. With candles lit across the stage and Dorothy onstage barefoot and the seventies style mustaches and mutton chops on the band, you are taken on a musical journey through slow impassioned ballads to faster, hot-blooded rock n roll songs.

Dorothy addressed the crowd often during her time onstage, she encouraged everyone to follow their passion and never give up and to always love each other – her gratitude was surely genuine and as a result you could feel the Glass House buzzing with positive energy.

Rock is certainly NOT dead when Dorothy is on stage, be sure to checkout Dorothy’s Freedom Tour this summer when it hits your town!
