The Flaming Lips @ The Theatre at Ace Hotel – 05/09/2017

Famed psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips are out supporting their latest album Oczy Mlody and made a stop in Los Angeles at The Theatre at Ace Hotel on Tuesday night May 9. The band took the capacity crowd on a musical acid trip through space with their over-the-top performance. Vocalist Wayne Coyne had all in attendance singing along while riding a unicorn and while encapsulated inside a giant clear ball all while dozens of balloons of all sizes bounced around the venue while confetti was released in massive quantities.

The band played three songs off the new album which blended in well with the older material, all making for one of rock’s most trippy live experiences. A sure highlight of the night had The Flaming Lips play a cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” which went over well with the enthusiastic fans in attendance.

Rock’s greatest acid punch party lives on . . . The Flaming Lips are still going strong.
