L.A. Guns @ The Coach House – 11/23/2018
L.A. Guns kicked off the final leg of the Missing Peace Tour 2018 at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano on Friday Night November 23rd. Out supporting their October 2017 release The Missing Peace, the first L.A. Guns album in many years featuring Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns back together. Like many famous duos in rock n roll like Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, Ozzy Osbourne and Zakk Wylde, Billy Idol and Steve Stevens, Lewis and Guns create musical magic when they play together and they recreated that magic in a genuine, modern way with The Missing Peace.
The band kicked off the set with a new one, the up-tempo “The Devil Made Me Do It” marking one of three new songs off The Missing Peace, proving that Guns and Lewis still have that enchanting songwriting ability. At one point during the show, Lewis mentioned they are proud to be one of the bands from the 80s and they no doubt have stood the test of time as their current live performance playing to a packed house rivals anything from the past.
In addition to Lewis and Guns, the band consist of Johnny Martin on bass and Shane Fitzgibbon on drums. Making this run of shows super special is Faster Pussycat guitarist Ace Von Johnson playing alongside Tracii Guns. Von Johnson adds an energetic and versatile element to the band and man he can play.
Of course all the hits were there, “Electric Gypsy”, “Sex Action” and the beautiful “Ballad of Jayne” as well as many more. The entire show was on point and solid from the instruments to the vocals. The bands stage presence was creative, with a clear passion for what they do delivering a night to remember and for many a memory of the music scene of the 80s.
