Ride for Ronnie James Dio – 05/07/2017The 3rd annual Ride for Ronnie motorcycle ride & concert benefitting the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund was held on Sunday May 7, beginning at Glendale Harley Davidson with live music at Los Encinos State Historic Park. The famed vocalist who fronted Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio among others passed away May 16, 2010 of stomach cancer and his legacy has been going strong thanks to his wife and manager Wendy Dio who is at the forefront of The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

Now in its third year, the Ride for Ronnie has motorcycle riders assemble for a continental breakfast at Harley-Davidson of Glendale and then kickstands up for a scenic ride through Los Angeles ending at Los Encinos Park in Encino, where there is an afternoon of live music, raffle and live auction, food trucks and more. The 2016 Ride for Ronnie event raised over $50,000 for the cancer charity, with the 2017 totals forthcoming.

Lynch Mob @ Los Encinos State Park – 05/07/2017Celebrity riders that gathered at Glendale HD included Gilby Clarke formerly of Guns n Roses, Sean McNabb from Lynch Mobb, Sons of Anarchy’s Emilio Rivera, famed Rock photographer Neil Zlozower and also had Lita Ford and Wendy Dio strapping on a helmet to be the second rider for two lucky bikers. Once at the park, live music was provided by several artists that included No Small Children, Sonia Harley, The Loveless, Eddie Money, Rough Cutt, Adler’s All-Stars, Dio Disciples and headlined by George Lynch and Lynch Mob. Eddie Trunk emceed the event and provided commentary and helped with all the auctions and giveaways.

A mixture of sun and clouds filled the sky with a threat of rain later in the afternoon (it actually did rain lightly for a bit starting at about 2:00pm). Hundreds of bikers and fans filled the park all afternoon enjoying the music and food trucks as well as meet n greets with most of the bands. All the bands put on an entertaining and enjoyable set with highlights that included Eddie Money playing the hits along with his daughter Jesse on co-vocals, 80’s rockers Rough Cutt playing their entire set in the rain with vocalist Paul Shortino donning a custom umbrella, Adler’s All-Stars playing three Guns n Roses classics  with Steven Adler, Ace Von Johnson (Faster Pussycat), Robert Sarzo, Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Foriegner) and more with Lita Ford and Patrick Stone (Budderside) on vocals along with Michael Devin. Dio Disciples played a fantastic tribute to Ronnie James Dio with Joe Retta doing a fine job on vocals and the day ended with Lynch Mob. It doesn’t get any better than watching George Lynch do his thing on guitar with Oni Logan on vocals, Sean McNabb on bass and the flamboyant Jimmy D’Anda on drums playing your favorite Lynch Mob tunes with some Dokken thrown in.

Adlers’s All-Stars @ Los Encinos State Park – 05/07/2017Another successful Ride for Ronnie, honoring one of the most respected and talented vocalists and the former ambassador of all things metal. It is obvious without a doubt how much the rock and metal community loves and misses the talents of Ronnie James Dio  – Long Live Rock n Roll!
