The Scorpions @ The Joint Las Vegas – 05/18/2016Veteran German Rockers The Scorpions took over the Joint in Las Vegas for part of the month of May with a “Blacked Out” residency which kicked off on May 13th. Continuing on their Return to Forever Tour, the German Rock Machine sold out 5 shows at The Joint, taking fans back over the past 50 years with songs they haven’t played in decades.

With much anticipation from the crowd, The Scorpions hit the stage kicking the set off with “Going Out With a Bang”. “Make it Real”, “The Zoo” and “Coast to Coast” were up next.  Going back in time the band played a medley of some oldies but goodies that included “Top of the Bill”, “Steamrock Fever”, “Speedy’s Coming” and “Catch Your Train” took things back a few years.

Not only was the sound and performance top notch, the stage show was spectacular. The video screens were nonstop giving the show a great back ground. Playing drums was none other than Motorhead’s Mikkey Dee filing in while James Kottack takes a break to handle some health issues.  The hard hitting Mikkey Dee is a perfect fit for this band.

Queensryche @ The Joint Las Vegas – 05/18/2016After the first few songs, the band started in with a long list of super hits. Among them included “Delicate Dance”, a melodic guitar solo spotlighting the flashy, crafty guitar licks of Matthias Jabs. During the solo, Jabs was joined by his guitar tech who took the stage with him, playing some solid guitar riffs.

Opening the 5 day residence was Seattle Metal Veterans Queensryche.  With Todd La Torre at the helm, Queensryche is back to life. Queensryche played a powerful 45 minute set, priming the crowd for the Scorpions with some classic Queensryche hits.
