Sunset Strip Music Festival Kicks Off Star Studded Weekend

The 2nd Annual Sunset Strip Music Festival got under way last night with a star studded ceremony at the House of Blues celebrating legendary Rock & Roller Ozzy Osbourne.

The event featured many of Ozzy’s close friends including Billy Morrison, Comedian lil’ Jim Norton (from the Opie & Anthony show on Sirius/XM), Henry Rollins, Tommy Lee, Slash and Billy Bob Thornton.

The presentation featured many of the celebrities providing anecdotes and stories of Ozzy. Jimmy Kimmel and Motorhead’s Lemmy Kilmister made their comments via video transmissions.

The ceremony consisted of Ozzy being presented with the Elmer Valentine award from Lou Adler, found of The Roxy. West Hollywood Mayor Abbe Land was also on hand to proclam yesterday “Ozzy Osbourne Day” for the City of West Hollywood.

Other celebrity guests in attendance included past and present bandmates including Bill Ward of Black Sabbath, Gabriel Byrne, David Spade, Michael Des Barres, The Donnas, System of a Down’s John Dolmayan, The Chelsea Girls, and Vains of Jenna.

The evening concluded with a a set by Camp Freddy and special guests Billy Morrison, Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney, Mark McGrath, Kenny Aronoff, Steve Stevens, Corey Taylor, Steve Jones, John5 and Frankie Perez. The All-Star lineup performed songs that encompassed Ozzy’s career including “Crazy Train” and “Iron Man.”

The festival continues today with the events at The Roxy, Viper Room, Whiskey A-Go-Go, House of Blues, Cat Club and the Key Club.

However, the main event comes on Saturday when the Sunset Strip will be shut down for the first time ever. The closure between Doheny Drive and San Vicente Blvd will make way for 2 massive stages for the event. Ozzy Osbourne will be featured on the West stage at 8pm on Saturday. More than 40 artists, including Korn, Kottonmouth Kings, Pepper, Fishbone, LMFAO, and The Donnas will descend upon the four surrounding clubs and 2 street stages to perform all day.
