Ted Nugent @ The Coach House – 06/29/2017

Ted Nugent @ The Coach House – 06/29/2017It’s the start of summer 2017 so that can only mean one thing . . . The Motor City Madman Ted Nugent is out touring the USA on the ‘Rockin America Again’ summer tour. With what seems to be an annual event, Nugent is out on the road melting faces with his funk filled, guitar driven 2 hr rock n roll extravaganza. Along with bandmates Greg Smith on bass and Jason Hartless on drums, this power trio delivers all the Nugent classics better than ever and proved it on Thursday night June 29 playing the 1rst of TWO SOLD OUT shows at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano.

Kicking off the show with a rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner to salute and honor the good ole USA, then right into the Big Joe Williams classic “Baby Please Don’t Go”, and it was obvious that at 69 years young, “Uncle Ted” is still Stormtroopin and on top of his game. Watching this guitar hero play is pure magic as Nugent becomes one with his instrument and his fingers produce some of the greatest rock n roll riffs ever written.

Nugent turned over lead vocals to Smith on “Need You Bad” and “Hey Baby” and he did a fine job leading the effort. 22 year old Jason Heartless is a monster on drums and kudos to Mr. Nugent for giving such an opportunity to such a young musician. Uncle Ted has a great sense of humor and is quite the master of one liners. At one point Nugent stated “Damn – I’m 69 years old and I look fabulous, the question is, what the hell happened to you people? (pointing to the crowd). Nugent also stated that where he lives that there is no deer problem and that the deer have a Ted problem.

The night concluded with a one two punch of Nugent’s biggest songs “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Stranglehold” of course which got the biggest crowd reaction of the show. Once again Ted Nugent proved he is a master at his craft and the creator of the best love songs and guitar riffs ever recorded. Ted Nugent will be Rockin across America through July and August.
